An Open Letter to Our Soccer Community
Dear Region 116 families,
Youth soccer is more than a game — it’s a place, it’s a community, where kids build confidence, form friendships and make lifelong memories.
As part of the greater AYSO family, we all share a responsibility to make sure that every player, volunteer and supporter feels safe, respected and welcome on and off the field.
AYSO’s Code of Conduct reminds us that soccer is for everyone, and no matter a person’s race, background, religion, gender, identity, ability or family situation, everyone deserves to belong. it is these differences that make our teams and our community stronger.
We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, abuse or violence of any kind. That means words, actions and/or behaviors that hurt or exclude others have no place in our region — whether they come from a player, coach, parent or spectator.
If anyone ever feels unsafe or witnesses inappropriate behavior, we encourage you to speak up. Reports will be taken seriously, handled with care and used to make our program safer for all. We also want to protect those who come forward. Retaliation of any kind is never acceptable.
We’re all on the same team when it comes to keeping our kids safe and ensuring that soccer stays a fun, positive experience for everyone involved. Let’s continue to model good sportsmanship, kindness and respect. Together, we can make AYSO not just a soccer league, but a true community where every child knows they belong.
Thank you,
Your Region 116 Board
