What is AYSO’s Schoolyard Program?
The Schoolyard program is specifically designed for our youngest players where children learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, passing and shooting in a non-competitive format. Schoolyard is designed to introduce players to the game of soccer, in a fun and safe environment, without the pressure to win.
Who it's for:
For the Fall 2024 season, the Schoolyard program (U5) is catered to children who are born in 2020.
How it works:
- There are no weekday practices. Two sessions will be held on Saturdays only. You can choose and show up to the session that best fits your schedule.
- There are no set teams. Parents should check-in 15 minutes before start time under the canopy to get assigned to a field. Sessions will be conducted by trainers with the support of volunteer coaches.
- Sessions will be 25 minutes of drills, then 25 minutes of scrimmage.
- Children will get water breaks throughout the session. All players get a snack bag the region provides as they come off the field.
